The Stage effect — III

A brief but important study for vitalizing the church's priesthood identity
This writing is the direct extension of the Stage effect, part I. Here, I would like to give some practical biblical examples of the Earthly settings of the Kingdom of Heaven. Interestingly, this is partly about architecture.

Meditation

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
{that the visible came out of the invisible}
Heb 12:3
as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
2Cor 4:18

The approach of the article

In the first study I described and analized some of the aspect of the modern life which has a huge impact on the contemporary church community. I have presented some examples of how the stage effect works in consumerist society and how it unconsciously /spiritually influences the worship and praise model in the Church.
Here in the second study I endeavour to give you a usable approach to the dynamics that operate in the visible world through the Lord's Word /will. Let's open the Bible!
The writer of the Hebrew letter teaches us like this :
faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the Universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.*
Heb 11:1
*{so that what is seen has been made from things
that are not visible.
CSB}

The statement "the seen comes from the unseen" highlights the idea that all visible realities here, on the Earth have unseen origins. Hebrews 11:3, basically states that the world was made by God's command from the invisible domain. More broadly, it suggests that the spiritual or immaterial realm underpins and influences the temporary, physical world.
This principle has been emphasized in 2 Corinthians 4:18, urging believers to focus on the eternal, unseen realities over transient physical ones:
.. we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Notices

Stage effect can be diminished by combining the things below:

  • Strong everyday activity for the church members practicing their new ID
  • Mid week worship and praise service. Priestly activities like charity, healing & mission in the neighborhood.
  • The setting of the gatherings in the church building. Parlament settings or circular shaped auditorium. Seeing each other's face.
  • Life groups activities
chapters

What should we do to avoid the stage effect?

  • radically different leader actions on the stage:
    eg. avoiding one directional communications, injecting interactions into the routine: prayer sections, selah sections, discuss sections...
  • not using stage at all
  • not using old religious buildings
  • not using /owning church building at all:
    Having a Missional property instead
    Having a "Retreat property" for various spiritual activity
