Encounter : Nicky Gumbel

Image
One day, I met Nicky Gumbel. It was completely unexpected. I thought I would visit the HTB Onslow Square community and someone from the younger generation's leaders would speak. That's what happened. However, in the back row, an older gentleman was not listening to the sermon in the usual reverent manner. He was taking notes, visibly engaged in thought. "What on earth is he doing?" I thought. An intellectual at work. Not exactly common in the back row - audience. Then there was a short break and I had the opportunity to approach the guy. Unfortunately, I had already spoken when I realized who I was talking to. I should have looked before I spoke. But anyway. "Hi how are you? May I ask you, what are you doing? Are you making some notices... or... " "Oh, I'm serving... checking (supervising) the sermon according to certain principles..." Nicky and Pippa Gumbel There wasn't much time for real talking. But the poin...

Fairytale in Norfolk

Image
series: Our Living Word 4/4 Word, became flesh ..a hopeful fairytale in Norfolk - with a spin... Once upon a time in Norfolk,... This fairy tale began in Norfolk, in a town whose name I cannot remember, where the pastor of the small community there believed that the values that the Lord Jesus had instilled in them should be passed on. He had been working in the social sector for quite some time. He wanted to pass God's Love to the neighborhood. One might think that socialization among English people mainly takes place in pubs. However, it is unlikely that most people will be kissing each other there. Although it is indeed possible to talk there, it is not particularly predestined that long term relationships will develop. The pub is good for many things, but not for presenting our Christian life, for example. Sarah Clark 1789 This city, whose name I have forgotten, is famous for its rich ancient culture. Its architecture and various flavors are deeply...

The Stage effect – III

Image
tools → Stage Effect A brief but important study for vitalizing the church's priesthood identity This writing is the direct extension of the Stage effect, part I. Here, I would like to give some practical biblical examples of the Earthly settings of the Kingdom of Heaven. Interestingly, this is partly about architecture. Meditation By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. {that the visible came out of the invisible} Heb 12:3 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2Cor 4:18 Main chapters The approach of the article The dynamics of the community Old Testament buildings and their activities New Testament Church/es and their activities Post Millennial Questions   Notices: Stage effect can be dimin...

Healing and Forgiveness

Everyday Church, Wimbledon - Online Church Service Mark 2:1-12 – Healing and Forgiveness by Adam Bream In our Mark series, we are looking at the ways and words and wonders of Jesus as described by a man named John Mark. Mark was a first century / first generation follower of Jesus and a friend of Jesus’ very close friend, Peter. If you’ve missed it so far, over the last 8 weeks, we’ve discovered so much about Jesus: · That he was God’s Son, who came to call and repurpose the most unlikely people for God’s Kingdom; · that he regarded and gave value to all He met and had the authority to heal various illnesses and levels of suffering. · And He did so repeatedly! We could sit in chapter 1 for weeks…but we’re not, so let's step into chapter 2. Let's read… Mark 2:1-12 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, a...
