Is "Hesed" equal to "Agape"?

Image
God is Love – 1/3 ..how the two loves are linked A study on divine love and the intertwined Christian character Kindness and faithful love (hesed) pursue me every day of my life. I make my home in the house of YHWH for all time to come. Psalm 23:6 For this is how God loved (agape) the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. John 3:16 What is Hesed? The word that is translated to “faithful love” is the Hebrew word “ Hesed (or ' checed' ).” This word is translated in other places as “kindness,” “faithfulness,” “mercy,” “goodness,” “loyalty,” and “steadfast love.” God's love for His covenant people in the Old Testament is expressed by the Hesed . This love expressed in the Hebrew texts as hesed we'emet for example in Gen 24:49; 32:11; 47:29; Ex 34:6; Jos 2:14; 2 Sam 2:6; 15:20. However hesed has a narrower definition than the English word " love ". In th...

Joseph Marie Vien: Sára bemutatja Hágárt Ábrahámnak A Galata levél 4 alapján áttekintést + tanítást olvashatsz itt a hívők régi és új állapotáról.

Two women

Joseph Marie Vien: Sarah Presenting Hagar to Abraham Based on the Galatians 4 you can read here an overview +teaching about the old and new status of the believers. According to the apostolic teaching the old, child like status describes Israel and the new status refers to the adoption we have got in Christ. Meanwhile, the symbolic image of the two women, the two mothers (Abraham's concubine and his wife), gives a detailed picture of the complex spiritual family relationship between the Jewish and the Christian believer. We will use the ESV Bible. Pre When the apostle Paul speaks of the life of Abraham and about the Law, we need to see two states. One is a blessing: based on the voluntary mercy and grace of God, the other is a system: which God has prepared for the deliverance of His people and the building up of the Jewish nation. We can see that the promise, Abraham's blessing came 430 years before the giving of the Law. Moreover we will see that...

Our own way

We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; Is 53:6 ..a woman named Martha welcomed Him (Jesus) into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.” The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Wedding at Cana

Image
respecting the rank Human perspective VS Kingdom perspective ..a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there 1 , and Jesus and His disciples were invited 2 to the wedding as well. When the wine ran out 3 , Jesus’ mother told Him, 4 “They don’t have any wine.” “What has this concern of yours to do with Me, 5 woman?” Jesus asked. “My hour has not yet come.” “Do whatever He tells 6 you,” His mother told the servants... “Fill the jars with water 7 ,” Jesus told them. So they filled them 8 to the brim. Then He said to them, “Now draw some out and take it 9 to the chief servant.” And they did. 8 (the water had become wine, Jesus took away the shame) 10 ... "You have kept the fine wine until now" 11 - said the chief servant. judaite decanter - zaksantiquities.com Now, let we see the dynamic in the record by faith. 1 the text suggest that Mary already was there, probably before Jesus came with his discipl...

Two persons

The * natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are a folly to him, and b he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The c spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. d “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But e we have the mind of Christ. 1Cor 2:14-16 ESV Notes: * psychicos person: It's not simply a "natural" person or "unbeliver" person. When speaking of the inner person, Paul uses the word: psychikos (soulish, 'visible-things-driven', 'emo-driven' or 'fleshly' minds and hearts) for the old character. Meanwhile he uses the word: pneumatikos (spiritual, spirit - driven) for the rescued. This helps us to see what Paul is writing here, in 1Cor 2:14-16 and in 1Cor 15:44. Other correspondent verses: a 1Cor 1:18 b Rom. 8:7 c 1Cor 3:1; 14:37; Gal. 6:1; see: Prov. 28:5 d Cited fro...

The natural and supernatural world

Image
The situation (nowadays) can be best illustrated by the biblical image of the nations' behaviour, which, as a result of many wars, becomes like a raging sea that vomits up much disgusting rubbish and mud. Under such circumstances, the many evils and wickednesses hidden in the depths of man's soul become more and more apparent. We have witnessed many such manifestations in recent years. It is very important that Christians have a real and personal communion with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Father. In the storms of this age and life, there is always a strong danger of drifting away. Faced with headwinds, one's direction in life often deviates from one's intended purpose and drifts in a direction not of one's own choosing. This threat can only be averted by a strong communion with the Lord, by knowing the enemy's intentions, and by fighting the noble battle of faith. So we can continue on the straight path. The sharp division between the...

A természetes és a természetfeletti világról

Image
A természetes...

Fear VS Acceptance

Image
The apostolic "concept" of divine love, referred to as "Agape," is distinguished from other forms of love like friendship or affection. Agape is correctly understood as a cultural and linguistic concept (and not as a theological subject). In Greek, it is used for giving, absorbing love, sometimes describing events such as invitations, hospitality and celebrations, (often associated with weddings.) The link between the teachings of Jesus and this imagery is very close. Jesus Christ emphasizes that Agape is a representation of the invitation to His Kingdom. This invitation has consequences and various fruits in our lives. I begin this note with the Hymn of Love: 1Cor 13 If I am able to speak the language of men or of angels, but have not divine love in me, I shall be like a noisy cymbal or a rattling cymbal. If I have received the gift of prophecy, if I know all secret truths, if I have all knowledge, if I have faith so st...

Intellect VS Spirit

Moses said: “Now if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, please teach me Your ways, and I will know You and find favor in Your sight. Now consider that this nation is Your people.” Then HE replied, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exo 33:13 As a truly dedicated leader, Moses did not simply focus on his duties, but the well-being of his flock was the center of his attention. · What is Moses' reaction to this answer? · Which specific branch of Christianity should be concerned with this view / perspective? · Moses' mindset has been changed by the Lord's answer. How has his perspective broadened? {v.15-18. ↓} “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?” And the LORD said to...

The Divine Path of Teaching and Learning

Image
Our Spiritual Journey Teaching and learning is not a lecture.. is there a way back to the informal? This article is part of the "Vitalize" pack In the tapestry of believer's life, teaching and learning are woven threads, strongly connected yet profoundly distinct from mere lectures and rote memorization. The teachings of Jesus Christ, the process of imparting knowledge transcends the mundane, becoming a sacred endeavor. Or - rather - challenge. One way or peer to peer? The postmodern life has a one way {consumerism or entertaining} culture. You can see the model: The person who's entertaining and the Audience who listens. In other words this is the Lecture culture or TED talk culture. Unfortunately this misleads us keeping our lives, hearts in the unilateral communication which is far far away from the peer to peer developing relationship during the {original} teaching. In the ancient culture the sages , seers and prophets or the pro...

Fake!

Image
Pre We have left 2020 behind us. Everyone has probably seen and heard fake and untrue news on TV, on the internet or from people they know in the immediate vicinity. The time has come when not only images but also video material can be created almost completely altering the original information or character. Different words than the original are put into people's mouths in the media, different gestures are made, small differences, big differences, not conveying quite the same original thinking. Not quite the same & almost the original. This is the alchemy of the liar. Since the Scriptures are the Word of the Everlasting God, it is not surprising that they prophetically foretell the events that are to come. Therefore, we can anticipate that the lies of the evil one will spread in many new areas and in new ways. John point to this in the Revelations: A mouth was given to him to speak boasts* and blasphemies. He was also given authority to act.. ...

God is Love – 2/3 ..how the three connect a study about divine love and interlocking Christian characters This article is part of the "Vitalize" pack “His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness..” 2Pt 1:3.. Pre In this very beginning I must say that there are a lot of ideas floating around about what the apostles teach about love. On the one hand, this is quite scary (knowing that there are theories about love) but it also gives us a great opportunity to investigate the original viewpoint. From the New Covenant perspective, it is important to note that God's love is much brighter for us than it was in the time of the Old Testament. I'm pro classical musician , learned to interpret the original concept and composition . My wife was a linguist so in such cases {and always} I go to the source rather than the traditional di...
