Looking, weeping, and living

About Zech 12:10 By David Guzik – Enduring Word Today, let's talk about looking, weeping, and living . I'm going to read you from Zechariah 12, verse 10, where we read this. And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and supplication. Then they will look on me whom they have pierced. Yes, they will mourn for him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for him as one grieves for a firstborn. Zechariah 12:10 Zechariah 12 is all about a great outpouring of the spirit of God upon his ancient people of Israel. He promises to bless, restore, and strengthen them in the last days. As Zechariah tells us in chapter 12, verse 10, part of this great outpouring of strength and might to defend Jerusalem will be an outpouring of his spirit. But it will be for grace and supplication. God will move among Israel and bring saving grace and repentant prayer. Then God made a remarkable promise: Then they will look o...

Covenant Assurance

By David Guzik {enduringword.com} on May 26, 2024 (Abraham) said, “Lord GOD, how shall I know that I will inherit it?” Genesis 15:8 Jesus spoke of faith that could move mountains (based on Matthew 17:20), but often our doubts seem to create those mountains. Trusting God and His promises is a constant challenge, faced by everyone who has ever tried to chase away doubt. Sometimes doubt comes from unbelief – an attitude that doubts God will keep His word or can keep His promises. Other times doubt is connected to faith that is growing and maturing; a doubt that recognizes that there is no weakness or wavering in God, but we are weak in our ability to trust. This was the kind of doubt that led a desperate father to say to Jesus, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24) God promised Abram a son and he waited ten (10!) years. Abram was successful in business and every other enterprise, but he thought “what good is all that without the fulfillment of God’s promis...

Faithful High Priest

Image
Holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house... Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant.. Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.. .. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. Heb 3

From Guilt to the Throne

Guilt or Throne? spiritual, mental hygiene, mutual need, purification, confidence, etc. This article is part of the "Vitalize" pack Dear saints and beloved! I recently visited a church which has a beautiful family life but suffers from a typical 21 century sickness. The guilt. Interestingly, leaders have told me that members are not as eager to come and get their lives back on track when they commit sins. They simply do not confess them openly. Since it is pastoral responsibility first - I really don't understand, why... The place we came from I believe that guilt is one of the most serious attacks on the humankind. People, nations can do "amazing" things to get rid of guilt. They walk thousands of miles, they squeeze themselves, they oppress themselves and unfortunately they oppress others just to see their own lives as superior and better. In fact, we see whole networks promising "grace" without any chanc...
