The zeal of the Lord

Image
The zeal of the Lord is God’s divine jealousy with which He operates to protect and restore His people: “For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this” Isaiah 37:32 (see also 2 Kings 19:31; Zechariah 1:14; 8:2). This zeal is the foundation for God’s demand for exclusive loyalty, as expressed in the Ten Commandments. God prohibits His worshippers from bowing down to any other gods (Exodus 20:3–5; see also Exodus 34:14; Deuteronomy 5:9). He alone is our God. In His jealous zeal for us, God cannot conceive of His beloved children offering their affection or allegiance to any other: “For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God” Deuteronomy 4:24 (see also Joshua 24:19). The zeal of the Lord seeks a response of faithfulness and obedience from His people. It does not accept disloyalty. When Israel turned from Yahweh to serve foreign gods, the Lord became jealous for His ...

An influential life in the Holy Spirit and in Love - part 2

Image
The " Influential " series - Part Two From the first days of his earthly ministry, Jesus proclaimed the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven. More precisely, he announced that his Kingdom had arrived. If this is true it has many manifestations in the invisible and visible world. In this second chapter we will focus on the visible part, one of the most important Earthly Action of the Kingdom: the Love. By faith we understand that the universe was created by God’s command, so that what is seen has been made from things that are not visible. Heb 11:3 {Holman Christian Standard Bible} The visible heritage (asset) By this all people will know.. I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. - the Lord says in Jn 13:34-35 This is how Jesus marked the influencer believers. In John's Gospel, he speak...

Luther about incessant faith

Image
"Oh it is a living, busy, active, mighty thing, this faith. It is impossible for it not to be doing good things incessantly. It does not ask whether good works are to be done, but before the question is asked it has already done this, and is constantly doing them. Whoever does not do such works however is an unbeliever. He gropes and looks around for faith and good works, but knows neither what faith is nor what good works are, yet he talks and talks with many words about faith and good works." Martin Luther

10 Things You Should Know about the Love of God

an ESV Article from the "10 Things You Should Know" series 1. God’s love is incomprehensible No human mind can comprehend God. We cannot define God. We cannot provide a comprehensive account of who he is. He "dwells in unapproachable light" (1 Tim. 6:16). If God is incomprehensible, then so is his love. While we may and must speak truthfully about his love, we can never fathom it, because it is divine love, as different from our love as his being is different from our being. 2. God’s love can be known We cannot define God in the sense of delimiting exhaustively who he is, but we can nonetheless describe him truthfully. We can do so because he has made himself known to us in his Word and he opens our eyes to that Word by his Spirit. How is that possible, given the divine difference? It is possible because God makes himself known to us in creaturely reality. He takes up the things he has made and uses them to describe himself to us. Thus he is a lio...

Worship, respect, unity, love

Image
Worship is a complex lifestyle in the Scriptures, not an event. Adoration, honor, praise, reverence focuses on the holiness of the majesty, the mightiness, the beauty of the Lord, – this is a constant priestly activity: sacrifice before the Lord, per-se. When we worship in holiness, unity and agreement, "God dwells among us": JHVH Shammah is his name which also clearly points to the name Immanuel : "Gd is with us". Gd's names represent His mighty character. Jesus clearly teaches that His Name should be holy before us: "hallowed be Your Name". His prayer model is the base of the everyday priestly prayer and adoration. In respect. In unity. In love. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright. Psalm 20:7-8 The full article is here ☆

An influential life in the Holy Spirit and in Love - part 1

The " Influential " series - Part One From the first days of his earthly ministry, Jesus proclaimed the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven. More precisely, he announced that his Kingdom had arrived. It has many manifestations in the invisible and visible world. The dynamic of the Kingdom basically: the life, ability and power of the King: The God Almighty . The better we understand His character and abilities, the better we represent his Kingdom in the visible world. The apostolic teaching says: By faith we understand that the universe* was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. Heb 11:3 {ESV} *Lit. “we understand that the ages of the world (aions) were created by the word of God, so that out of the invisible came the visible.” Here is an important connection between aion and the Word of God The Holman translation is more specific: By faith we understand that the universe...

Desiring mercy - love

Image
When Jesus/Yeshua/Isa was humiliated and lashed he had to learn the total annihilation. Annihilation by Sin and the mechanically used Law. By Sin: through our human cruel nature. By Law: through human "rules" the misunderstanding of the Holy Law, the ineffectiveness of the so called Law-culture. Facing its cruelty when it faces the mercy, release, grace and the domain of reconciliation. Hos 6:6 says: "I desire mercy {loyalty-love}   not sacrifice The knowledge of Gd   not burnt offerings" This is an essential ingredient for the dynamic of the Kingdom, even today. Knowledge of Gd = faithful loyal love. Mercy, (even when confronted with secular order, trend, or religious spirits) = sync with Gd. Consequently: If The knowledge of Gd is mercy, it's action. The knowledge of Gd is knowing/practicing His thoughts and living out them: This is how we read: "walking in the Truth" . John says: I was very glad when some brother...

We keep ourselves in the love of God

Image
by David Guzik - Enduring Word Today, I want to talk to you about walking forward with God and to do so by looking Inward. Teaching from the Apostle Jude I'm going to read you from Jude, chapter 1, and thoroughly is one chapter in this book of Jude... This is Jude, chapter 1, verses 20 and 21, where we read: But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. (previously) Jude explained in his letter warnings about certain men who were a danger to the church. And in response, Jude did not tell us to go out and crush those certain men who were a danger to the church, instead, he told us to focus on our walk with the Lord, to help others who were affected by those certain dangerous men, and for us to put our focus on God. ... We are simply to pay such dangerous men no attention except what is necessary for our w...

Love is Action

Image
This is how we have come to know love: He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his need — how can God’s love reside in him? 1Jn 3:16 Recommended articles: · Brotherly love · Is "Hesed" equal to "agape"? · Luther about incessant faith

Is "Hesed" equal to "Agape"?

God is Love – 1/3 ..how the two loves are linked A study on divine love and the intertwined Christian character Kindness and faithful love (hesed) pursue me every day of my life. I make my home in the house of YHWH for all time to come. Psalm 23:6 For this is how God loved (agape) the world: he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. John 3:16 What is Hesed? The word that is translated to “faithful love” is the Hebrew word “ Hesed (or ' checed' ).” This word is translated in other places as “kindness,” “faithfulness,” “mercy,” “goodness,” “loyalty,” and “steadfast love.” God's love for His covenant people in the Old Testament is expressed by the Hesed . This love expressed in the Hebrew texts as hesed we'emet for example in Gen 24:49; 32:11; 47:29; Ex 34:6; Jos 2:14; 2 Sam 2:6; 15:20. However hesed has a narrower definition than the English word " love ". In th...

The breastpiece (breastplate)

Image
God is Love – 3/3 meditation The High Priest in the Old Testament : You are to make an embroidered breastpiece (breastplate) for making decisions.. ... Place a setting of gemstones on it, four rows of stones: ... The 12 stones are to correspond to the names of Israel’s sons. Each stone must be engraved like a seal, with one of the names of the 12 tribes. Exo 28:15.17.21 Whenever he enters the sanctuary, Aaron is to carry the names of Israel’s sons over his heart on the breastpiece for decisions, as a continual reminder before the Lord. Exo 28:29 ↑ ↓ The High Priest in the New Testament : ..because He, Jesus remains forever, He holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore, He is always able to save those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them. Invitation

A   nd where there agape exists, there is a loving invitation and calling. We have a calling to the nations, and NOT an increase in numbers in a club. Club members meet for fellowship - but not to save other people's lives. There is a difference between filia and agape .

God is Love – 2/3 ..how the three connect a study about divine love and interlocking Christian characters This article is part of the "Vitalize" pack “His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness..” 2Pt 1:3.. Pre In this very beginning I must say that there are a lot of ideas floating around about what the apostles teach about love. On the one hand, this is quite scary (knowing that there are theories about love) but it also gives us a great opportunity to investigate the original viewpoint. From the New Covenant perspective, it is important to note that God's love is much brighter for us than it was in the time of the Old Testament. I'm pro classical musician , learned to interpret the original concept and composition . My wife was a linguist so in such cases {and always} I go to the source rather than the traditional di...

Our Father in the Heaven

Image
[You can listen this with audio assistant]   It is a well-known prayer even for non-Christians. However, not many people know that it is basically a prayer pattern and not a mantra that loses its meaning after a while. Many people today pray it automatically. But Jesus the King prays it systematically . Some of the phrases below even need to be updated for the better understanding of meaning. We must see that Jesus Christ showed this pattern to his disciples to give them a framework for their daily prayer. It is a preference & reference too: for Jesus, the key issue is that God's names be known and His Kingdom be here on Earth in the splendour and power as it is in Heaven. In other words - that the Heaven would touch Earth and Gd's restoration would be at work. When Heaven touches the Earth our perspective is restored. We can read in Mt 6:9-13: Our Father in the Heaven: Who dwells in the Heaven in the heavenly Realm, sitting...

The Lord Who Provides

Image
Jehovah Jireh is one of the Holy Names revealed in the Bible. God's names are talking about His Character, his heart. Application of “The Lord Who Provides” Echo Chong short notice How do we apply this message about “The Lord Who Provides” in our day to day life? Ask and trust Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”  When we are in need, all we need to do is to ask God and trust Him through our seeking and knocking. God cares about the details. Nothing is wasted. God does not want us to fix our eyes on our own circumstances but on Him alone, nothing else. Package Be open to God’s package God’s provision can come in different shapes and forms. Be open and don’t limit God even if His provision doesn’t come packaged the way you think it should. Be open & don’t limit God God provided manna for the Israelites when they were in the desert. The word manna means “what is it?”. They had ne...
