..the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it , and is not a forgetful hearer but one who does good works — this person will be blessed in what he does. Jms 1:25

Looking, weeping, and living

Image
About Zech 12:10 By David Guzik – Enduring Word Today, let's talk about looking, weeping, and living . I'm going to read you from Zechariah 12, verse 10, where we read this. And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and supplication. Then they will look on me whom they have pierced. Yes, they will mourn for him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for him as one grieves for a firstborn. Zechariah 12:10 Zechariah 12 is all about a great outpouring of the spirit of God upon his ancient people of Israel. He promises to bless, restore, and strengthen them in the last days. As Zechariah tells us in chapter 12, verse 10, part of this great outpouring of strength and might to defend Jerusalem will be an outpouring of his spirit. But it will be for grace and supplication. God will move among Israel and bring saving grace and repentant prayer. Then God made a remarkable promise: Then they will look o...

Two dimensions of Worship Adoration Prayer

Image
Our Worship, Adoration & Prayer happens / works for two reasons; A. We humans worship Gd because He is the Mighty Gd and we are the creatures of his hand. He created the galaxies and - according to His Image - He created us to live in noble status before His presence. After the ruined status (the sin), He restored the sonship in us by giving us a reconciled, adopted status through His Son. B. We, believers, restored humans worship and pray with adoration because we want to focus on the Heavenly ID: seeing Gd by the Heaven first, learning the Heaven through Gd's eyes. We practice the new life, proclaiming & representing the Heaven as the royal priesthood: (1Pt 2:9), and from this position, "acting" the Heaven: "Your will be done on the Earth     as it is in the Heaven" · Paul's foundation · ID - Cause and Effect · Jesus' two prayer models

Reality - walking in the Truth

Image
The Word became flesh and took up residence ( tabernacled ) among us. We observed His glory, the glory as the One and Only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Jn 1:1, 14 Grace and Truth? Well, the first one is more or less obvious. Meanwhile Truth, or more precisely real-truth , or reality → in Greek: "aletheia" has several meanings in the apostolic mindset. He acts in the truth The Greek word translated " truth " is aletheia , which most closely resembles our English word " reality ." It means "the manifested, unconcealed essence of a matter." We could say : truth means, precisely, the reality that reveals itself, the true reality that emerges from under the veil, the unconcealed. (see for example: the book of Revelation, in Greek: "apocalypse"). In contrast to the abstract Disciplines of The Law, this truth is a correct reflection of reality in the mind of man, reality is reality-itself. Al...

The fullness of God’s nature!

the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ, and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority. Col 2:9-10

meditation I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery. You shall not... You shall not... You shall not... Exodus 20:2 .. call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me. Psalm 50:15 In your steadfast love give me life, that I may keep the testimonies of your mouth. Psalm 119:87-88 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Mt 6:9-10 ..seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:32-33 Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that ...

Intellect VS Spirit

Moses said: “Now if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, please teach me Your ways, and I will know You and find favor in Your sight. Now consider that this nation is Your people.” Then HE replied, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exo 33:13 As a truly dedicated leader, Moses did not simply focus on his duties, but the well-being of his flock was the center of his attention. · What is Moses' reaction to this answer? · Which specific branch of Christianity should be concerned with this view / perspective? · Moses' mindset has been changed by the Lord's answer. How has his perspective broadened? {v.15-18. ↓} “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?” And the LORD said to...

God dwells in the praises of His people

Image
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?.. Yet you are holy, enthroned {dwelling} on the praises of Israel. Psalm 22 And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him 1 John 2:28 Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us. 1 John 3:24 We are encouraged by John to abide in God, which has various meaning in the believer's life. In 1John chapter 2 and 3 we get dense apostolic visions how this relationship shapes our lives and makes ripples around us.. However, God is equally present in us and desires to live within our hearts' worship and adoration. Psalm 22, the great messianic-prophetic psalm, reveals this heavenly intimate relationship showing the out casted, Suffering Messiah who -In His Greatest sacrifice, in His death agony- gives us a glorious dimensions about Gd's dwelling...

The voice of the Lord

Image
Psalm 29 Ascribe to Yahweh, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due His name; worship Yahweh in the splendor of His holiness. The voice of the Lord is above the waters. The God of glory thunders — the Lord, above vast waters, the voice of the Lord in power, the voice of the Lord in splendor. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion, like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord flashes flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth and strips the woodlands bare. In His temple all cry, “Glory!” The Lord sat enthroned at the flood; the Lord sits enthroned, King forever. The Lord gives His people strength; the Lord blesses His people with peace.

He went in but didn't die

Image
The King's worship... King David built his own tent for the Ark of the Covenant. And he survived that... King David, the great kingdom-unifier and psalmist, lived a truly extraordinary life. He had a close relationship with God from a young age and nothing changed once he came to power. Despite the fact that the Law clearly states where and how the Holy of Holies is to be built David built his own tent for the Ark. He had a want to serve and adore the Lord of Israel. The Law also states that only the high Priest and only once on a single day may enter the presence of the Lord. David was not bothered by this either. King David had so much desire to be with the Lord, so much need to live according to His mighty heart, that he built that tent for the personal worship, for adoration, praise and honor, and {we should not forget} for the representation of his worship before the nation. He di...

Praying for revival

Image
from the book: "Authority" by Martyn Lloyd-Jones ... the trouble is that we always start with ourselves and our efforts and ask God to bless them. When did you last hear anyone praying for revival, praying that God might open the windows of heaven and pour out His Spirit? When did you last pray for that yourself? I suggest seriously that we are neglecting this almost entirely. We are guilty of forgetting the authority of the Holy Spirit. We are so interested in ourselves and in our own activities that we have forgotten the one make us effective. By all means let us continue to pray for the particular efforts, for the minister, and his preaching every Sunday, for all essential organizations and for evangelistic campaigns, if we feel led to have them. But before it all, and after it all, let us pray and plead for revival. When God sends revival He can do more in a single day than in fifty years of all our organization. That is the verdict of sheer history which ...

From anxiety to thanksgiving

We are invited to replace anxiety with prayer and Thanksgiving. But let prayer be focused on God & His grace and faithfulness otherwise prayer itself becomes worrying out loud. Moving from anxiety to peace comes from a true meeting with God. Terry Virgo

Isa 8:12 and 1Pt 3:13

The parallel verses about the Lord of Hosts Isa 8:12 Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. But the LORD of hosts, Him you shall honor, sanctify as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he will become a sanctuary... 1Pt 3:13 who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor, sanctify Christ the Lord as holy. ♜

Depression or Glory

Image
Who I am? Depression exists when we underestimate ourselves. When we look at ourselves on the natural way & observe the visible things: we turn away from the Heaven. The writer of the Ecclesiastes {King Salomon} says: “Absolute futility,” says the Teacher. “Absolute futility. Everything is futile.” What does a man gain for all his efforts that he labors at under the sun? Ecc 1:2-3 Perspective The above-mentioned section shows a problem. The problem of the perspective: " under the sun ". King Salomon started his life with splendour and glory and finished with multiple wives and concubines - alongside their multiple gods/goddesses... Well... We're not meant to focus on things "under the sun". If we did, we missed the point. Let us only be illuminated from the side of heaven! When adoration & praise happen, alongside with the worship – Heaven happens. This was the original, Davidic heritage for Salomon! 2Chron 5 7 The ...

Live by the Spirit, and...

Image
Live by the Spirit, I say, and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. Gal. 5:16 if you are led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the law. the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these... the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.

Focus

Image
by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones I want to emphasize that fact. When the apostle Paul (our great example in this matter of preaching, teaching and evangelizing) went to Corinth, he reached a certain decision. Whatever his reason, Paul determined solemnly at Corinth ‘not to know anything among them, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified’ , This was a deliberate decision, reinforced by strong determination on his part. In other words, Paul decided that he was not going to waste his time with them in arguing about presuppositions. He was not going to start with a preliminary philosophical argument and then gradually lead them on into the truth. No! He begins by proclaiming authoritatively the Lord Jesus Christ. And in Galatians iii. 1 he uses an even stronger term; for he reminds the Galatians that he ‘placarded’ Christ crucified before them. He was like a bill-poster, a man carrying a placard. There also he started with Jesus Christ. I have an increasing feeling that we must come ...

Jesus, Sitting on The Throne

Image
Jesus Sitting At The Right Hand Of The Father Meditation, contemplation Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace Psalm 110:1 A Psalm of David. The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” Mark 16:19 So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. Hebrews 1:2-3 In these last days Gd has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the World. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high... Hebrews 1:8 But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever...

Banner Over the Nations

Is 11:12-12 On that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time   to recover the remnant that is left of his people, He will raise a signal {banner} for the nations,   and will assemble the outcasts of Israel,   and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth Is. 62:6.10. On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen; all the day and all the night they shall never be silent. You who put the Lord in remembrance, take no rest, and give him no rest until he establishes Jerusalem and makes it a praise in the earth. ... Go through, go through the gates; prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway; clear it of stones; lift up a signal {banner} over the peoples . Behold, the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the earth: Say to the daughter of Zion, “Behold, your salvation comes; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.” ...

Flee from the Flesh

Image
Tozer on the Holy Spirit Devotional W hen the Holy Spirit is ignored or rejected, religious people are forced either to do their own creating or to fossilize completely. A few churches accept fossilization as the will of God and settle down to the work of preserving their past—as if it needed preserving. Others seek to appear modern and imitate the current activities of the world with the mistaken idea that they are being creative. And after a fashion they are, but the creatures of the creative skill are sure to be toys and trifles—mere imitations of the world and altogether lacking in the qualities of eternity: holiness and spiritual dignity. The hallmark of the Holy Spirit is not there. It is hard to imagine a more painful disillusionment than to come to the judgement seat of Christ and find that all our earthly lives we had been striving after the flesh and never permitting the creative Holy Spirit to work in us that which was pleasing in His sight. Revival Sermons

Image
Revival can be found in the Bible in both the Old and New Testaments, and Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones’ sermons draw inspiration from both. In the revival sermons below, Dr. Lloyd-Jones shines the light of the scriptures on the topic of revival, exploring historical revivals, the role of the Church in revival, and our reliance on the movement of the Holy Spirit to see revival take hold.
