An influential life in the Holy Spirit and in Love - part 2

Image
The " Influential " series - Part Two From the first days of his earthly ministry, Jesus proclaimed the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven. More precisely, he announced that his Kingdom had arrived. If this is true it has many manifestations in the invisible and visible world. In this second chapter we will focus on the visible part, one of the most important Earthly Action of the Kingdom: the Love. By faith we understand that the universe was created by God’s command, so that what is seen has been made from things that are not visible. Heb 11:3 {Holman Christian Standard Bible} The visible heritage (asset) By this all people will know.. I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. - the Lord says in Jn 13:34-35 This is how Jesus marked the influencer believers. In John's Gospel, he speak...

Stand

by David Guzik – Enduringword.com I'm David Guzik and today for a brief devotional thought I want to read to you what the Holy Spirit spoke through the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 6 verse 13 where we read this: “Therefore, take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand.” Eph. 6:13 (NKJV) Now, Paul introduced the idea of the whole armor of God way back in Ephesians 6 verse 11, two verses prior. And in the following verses he detailed the specific items related to the armor of God. In this verse, Ephesians 6 verse 13, he simply states what the main purpose of spiritual warfare and the armor of God is. Simply said, we're given the spiritual armor so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand. This describes what we use the strength of God for and the armor of God for. You see, the primary picture in Paul's mind is not that the Christian goes out attacking spir...

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood

Image
by David Guzik – Enduringword.com Today I want to remind you that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, and read you from Ephesians 6, verse 12, where we read this: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Eph. 6:12 (NKJV) The fact that our real battle is not against flesh and blood is lost on many followers of Jesus. They put all their efforts in that direction. Paul's idea here in Ephesians 6 is much the same as in 2 Corinthians 10, verses 3 and 4, where he wrote this: “for though we walk in the flesh, we do not war, according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” 2 Cor. 10:3-4 (NKJV) Then Paul described just whom we do battle against. He said its principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of ...

The " Influential " series - Part One From the first days of his earthly ministry, Jesus proclaimed the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven. More precisely, he announced that his Kingdom had arrived. It has many manifestations in the invisible and visible world. The dynamic of the Kingdom basically: the life, ability and power of the King: The God Almighty . The better we understand His character and abilities, the better we represent his Kingdom in the visible world. The apostolic teaching says: By faith we understand that the universe* was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. Heb 11:3 {ESV} *Lit. “we understand that the ages of the world (aions) were created by the word of God, so that out of the invisible came the visible.” Here is an important connection between aion and the Word of God The Holman translation is more specific: By faith we understand that the universe...

you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God (the heavenly Jerusalem), to myriads of angels in festive gathering, to the assembly of the firstborn whose names have been written in heaven, to God who is the Judge of all, to the spirits of righteous people made perfect, to Jesus (mediator of a new covenant), and to the sprinkled blood.. Restoring the place of the Holy Spirit

Image
{Rebuilding the respect and authority of the Holy Spirit in your life} (a rude, shaking calling, because sometimes we need that) Dear Reader! Honoring the Holy Spirit does not necessarily mean that we missed the focus of Christ! We do not praise or worship anyone but the Father and Christ. We don't rejoice or worship anyone else or anything else in our blessed new status in Christ! But He, the Lord himself gave the Mighty Spirit for us. Has our relationship with God changed throughout history? Yes. We, humans had tribes, we had nation builder heroes, we had covenants. Then He the Mighty visited Abraham. Then He has built a chosen nation. Then He sent the Promised Son. Has our relationship in Christ changed throughout history? Not. He didn’t withdraw his mercy and gift. He didn't change our intimate relationship in the family. He did not renounce his power as Lord of the universe, nor the supreme authority above us and the visible authori...

The fullness of God’s nature!

the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ, and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority. Col 2:9-10

and the teetering vessel of the Lord Study 2. The conflict described in 2 Samuel 6 is really a conflict between David and the Lord. Although it is an incident with dire consequences, despite its dramatic beginning, it is an extremely powerful departure for David, a cleansing and righting of his personal identity and his worship. The spiritual foundation of his kingdom was here solidified for the next period of history. The reasons for the Uzza conflict, in brief The kings of Israel were informed about the order of the Holy things, including the use and transport of the tabernacle and ark. The community of the ark is not only the community of the priesthood but also the community of the king. .... When David entered the new, triumphant era of his life as king of his nation, he was subject to the ordinances as were all Levitical priests and leaders. So he had to be informed about the transport of the ark. Well. He was not informed. Two things, two ...

II. Almost Incredible Promises - Part 1.

Image
From the book: The Kneeling Christian by Albert Richardson If you have faith and doubt not … all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. Mt 21:22 "When we stand with Christ in glory, looking o'er life's finished story," the most amazing feature of that life as it is looked back upon will be its prayerlessness. We shall be beside ourselves with astonishment that we spent so little time in real intercession. It will be our turn to wonder . In our Lords last discourse to His loved ones, just before the most wonderful of all prayers, the Master again and again held out His kingly golden scepter and said, as it were, "What is your request? It shall be granted unto you, even unto the whole of My kingdom." Do we believe this? We must, if we believe our Bibles. Shall we just read over very quietly and thoughtfully one of our Lord's promises, reiterated so many times? If we had never read them befo...

II. Almost Incredible Promises Part 2.

Image
From the book: The Kneeling Christian by Albert Richardson If you have faith and doubt not … all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. Mt 21:22 Do we doubt His power? Not for a moment. Has He not said, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye ... and, behold, I am with you always (Matt. 28:18-20)? Do we doubt His wisdom? Do we mistrust His choice for us? Not for a moment. And yet, very few of His followers consider prayer worthwhile. Of course, they would deny this, but actions speak louder than words. Are we afraid to put God to the test? He has said we may do so. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, ... and prove me now in this, said the LORD of the hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it (Mal. 3:10). Whenever God makes us a promise, let us boldly say, as did the apostle Paul, I believe God, that it shall be e...

The misled leader

and the teetering vessel of the Lord Study David again brought together all the able young men of Israel—thirty thousand. He and all his men went to Baalah 1 in Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the Name, the name of the Lord Almighty, who is enthroned between the cherubim on the ark. They set the ark of God on a new cart and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new cart with the ark of God on it, and Ahio was walking in front of it. David and all Israel were celebrating with all their might before the Lord, with castanets, 2 harps, lyres, timbrels, sistrums and cymbals. When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down, and he died there beside the ark of God. Then David w...

since we have a right to speak (we have confidence to enter) the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way... since we have a Great Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean,.. our bodies washed with pure water. We ought not to limit God..!

Image
Jonathan Edwards: “We ought not to limit God where He has not limited himself!” "Expanding our Expectations of what God might do through His Church" Article by Lex Loizides There’s a somewhat tired caricature of the Reformed believer as an overly religious and narrow-minded fundamentalist. Such a person supposedly takes solace in the Sovereignty of God in light of the failure of the message he proclaims. After all, it is supposed, not many are being converted because it’s ‘not the will of God’…so goes the caricature. But actually, as we have seen already from the writing of Jonathan Edwards*, an affectionate love for the doctrines of grace not only expands our view of the majesty of God (in His transcendence), but also includes real, passionate, personal experiences of God (in His immanence, His closeness). And a Biblical view of the nature of God both as the One who graciously forgives us and as the mighty Head of the Church, will enable us...

Keep the unity!

Image
With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 4:2-3) Ephesians 4 begins a whole new part of Paul’s letter. The first three chapters explain in glorious detail all that God has done for believers, freely by His grace. Starting with chapter 4, he tells believers how to live rightly, but only after having explained what God did for His people in Jesus Christ. Having considered and received all that God has done for us, we are to live with all lowliness and gentleness , not a pushy desire to defend our own rights and advance our own agenda. Before Christianity, the word lowliness always had a bad association to it. In the minds of many it still does; but it is a glorious Christian virtue (Philippians 2:1-10). It means that we can be happy and content when we are not in control or steering things our way. Having considered and received all that God has done fo...

The Holy Spirit's Centrality

Image
rethink ...that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.. Gal. 3:14 The promise of the Spirit is equated with the blessing of Abraham, even though the Old Testament passage does not mention the Spirit. Since the “blessing of Abraham” came in the form of a “promise,” this word is the one Paul uses throughout the argument of Galatians 3:13-14 to refer to the blessing of the Abrahamic covenant. In a statement crucial to this argument, Paul says the fulfillment of this promised blessing for the Gentiles is in their having experienced the Spirit as a living and dynamic reality. The blessing of Abraham, therefore, is not simply “justification by faith.” Rather, it refers to the life of the future now available to Jew and Gentile alike, achieved through the death of Christ but applied through the dynamic ministry of the Spirit—and all of this by faith.’ The full article is here

Seeing with a God - lens

by Ryan Kelly - Crossway.org David’s life has been plagued by a steady stream of enemies, but in the end, the Lord has “delivered him from the hand of all his enemies” (2 Sam. 22:1). As David looks back in reflection on his life, he writes not a lament about how many enemies he’s had to face but a praise song for how much deliverance and faithfulness the Lord has shown. David’s praise is far from mild or timid. He describes God’s deliverances with extreme language: cracking open the earth, devouring with fire, riding on a cherub, shooting lightning like arrows, and so forth (vv. 8–20). Of course, David has in mind events that looked much less apocalyptic than this—like his getting out of Gath by acting crazy (1 Sam. 21:10–15; cf. Psalm 34). But he knows what kind of God it is who works in unseen ways. Thus, his praise for God is lively and lofty. Questions Let’s pause here to ask ourselves some questions: · When I reflect on my life, do I interpret things th...

How to obtain the fullness of power for Christian life – chpt. 3 part I

Image
This article is part of the "Vitalize" pack Reuben A. Torrey: "How to Obtain Fulness of Power For Christian life?" Chapter 3 — The Power of the Holy Spirit sample, part I "Power belongeth unto God." Ps 62 Intro The Holy Spirit is the person who imparts to the individual believer the power that belongs to God. This is the Holy Spirit's work in the believer, to take what belongs to God and make it ours. All the manifold power of God belongs to the children of God as their birthright in Christ, "All things are yours." (1 Cor. 3:21) But all that belongs to us as our birthright in Christ becomes ours in actual and experimental possession through the Holy Spirit's work in us as individuals. To the extent that we understand and claim for ourselves the Holy Spirit's work, to that extent do we obtain for ourselves the fulness of power in Christian life and service that God has provided for us in Christ. A very la...
