Can grace be overstated?

Image
The majority does not understand I think, it is no coincidence at all that the proclamation of God's grace has become real popular nowadays. Popularityalso means: beloved by the crowd. For most believers, including myself in the past, have not understood the Gospel at all, have not understood justification, have not understood regeneration, have not understood what Jesus did on the Cross, It was not understood that we have an abundant heritage, attached to our adopted status. Granted, given things for the believer's. Gifts, support, assets, ongoing sanctification for working with Christ according to our new ID: who we, believers have become in Christ. From this perspective, grace cannot be overstated /overloaded. From the Heavenly perspective everything is abundant and lavish! Mercy grace are lavishly given to us! Masses of believers to this day do not understand these things, their beliefs and thinking are opposed to the true reality ( aletheia ). Whi...

Declared to Be the Son of God

Image
Is Jesus really God? Some say He became divine at his baptism while others suggest He became the Son of God at His resurrection. The deity of Jesus Christ has always been challenged, not by those who are saved, but by those who want to remain in their sin. In this sermon titled “Declared to Be the Son of God,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones argues that Jesus is and always was the unique Son of God from the beginning. In order to do the will of God the Father, His power and glory were hidden and yet He never became less than God. As the apostle Paul proclaimed in Romans 1:3–4, the resurrection of Jesus proves that He is God. concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord Romans 1:3-4 (ESV) Like a son of the king who is ceremonially announced as heir of the kingdom, Jesus is declared to be the sovereign over all creatio...

Grace upon Grace

Image
My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father — Jesus Christ the Righteous One. He Himself is the atoning sacrifice {propitiation} for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world. 1Jn 2:1-2 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1Jn 1:9 The Faithful Who Stands in the Gap When we drop our guard and we sin (which the Apostle John knows will happen & we should confess), praise God that our saviour Jesus faithfully stands in the gap,* defends us, and is the one who forever states our innocent plea before God the Father. Indeed, from His fullness we have all received grace after grace (grace *upon grace: in place of grace already given) for the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:16-17 Through Moses came the Law. The ...

Transferred to The Reign of Grace

Image
What does it mean to have died to sin in Christ? This is a debated phrase that has had a number of interpretations throughout church history. In this sermon on Romans 6:12 titled “Transferred to the Reign of Grace,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones says that understanding this Scripture is vital: What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Rm 6:1-2 This is important not merely as an academic exercise, but for the Christian life. He says that to have died to sin means that God has declared the Christian justified in Christ and a new person. It is the divine pronouncement of God’s favor and total forgiveness for all who believe in Jesus Christ. The emphasis, says Dr. Martin Lloyd-Jones, is always on what God has done for His people. This is why Paul expects the charge that he is encouraging sin so that grace might abound; he anticipates that this view of grace could be misunderstood. This serm...

We ought not to limit God..!

Image
Jonathan Edwards: “We ought not to limit God where He has not limited himself!” "Expanding our Expectations of what God might do through His Church" Article by Lex Loizides There’s a somewhat tired caricature of the Reformed believer as an overly religious and narrow-minded fundamentalist. Such a person supposedly takes solace in the Sovereignty of God in light of the failure of the message he proclaims. After all, it is supposed, not many are being converted because it’s ‘not the will of God’…so goes the caricature. But actually, as we have seen already from the writing of Jonathan Edwards*, an affectionate love for the doctrines of grace not only expands our view of the majesty of God (in His transcendence), but also includes real, passionate, personal experiences of God (in His immanence, His closeness). And a Biblical view of the nature of God both as the One who graciously forgives us and as the mighty Head of the Church, will enable us...

Reset

(our spiritual and mental hygiene) This article is part of the "Vitalize" pack Our salvation and our adoption has been prepared in advance (Eph 1:4-6) by His love, but our lives continue to go on in this disordered, ungodly world. The Lord Jesus and his apostles take great care to maintain the hygiene of our lives. They never confuse salvation with sanctification . 2Cor 7:1 Therefore, dear friends, since we have such promises, let us cleanse ourselves from every impurity of the flesh and spirit, completing our sanctification in the fear of God. Let's start with the well-known scene: Remember that Jesus Christ washed the feet of his disciples. During supper,... Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands,... rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel t...

The Birth of The Music

Image
T  he music – the audible music – starts with a raw material, chosen by the manufacturer. The wood, the plank was chosen to be a violin. Not only for its beauty and flawlessness but also for the tradition of man's craft. This gives birth to the Art, gives birth to the shape and elegance, gives birth to the music. It's a well-known story when a violinist gives a concert in the Italian home county of the violin. In the morning, he starts his daily practice at his lodgings and, completely stunned, suddenly stops. He has a "different violin" in his hand. The violin that has come home. Of course, the smart egg-heads will tell you that this is related to the wood's home environment, the humidity, the air and the temperature. But... we musicians know: it's much simpler, than that. The violin is at home and now all the wonders that the master dreamed into the shape centuries ago are at once become audible in the almost tangible and new dimensional music and sound...

Two Different Eras

Image
study in the chapterhouse Two different Eras: Mosaic Law vs. New Testament At   the coming of Jesus, the Judaism of the age had to decide on his authenticity. Let us not forget that the whole belief system was at stake. We know their decision well, reading the struggles and lives of the apostles, but many times we do not grasp the spiritual connections: what is happening in our daily lives, according to the Law. A XX. century 'gospel movements' - although they unable to efface the horrific memories of the Holocaust - have great, active sympathy for Israel, knowing that "to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all ..." (Rom. 9:4-5) In Matthew 5:17, Jesus / Yeshua also emphasized the role of the Mosaic Law and the Prophetic writings: Do not think that I have come to invalidate th...

Redemption from religiosity

Image
thoughts of József Farkas We started from the premise that Jesus was heretic — heretical in a different way! He thinks differently, acts differently than the world around him.  And, there is something more about this “otherness”. Something about salvation.  Even in this great and beautiful cause, Jesus was different from his early theologians, believers. The public perception was that " the man has fallen, guilty: worthy of judgment, of death, of condemnation !" And some help must be given to one's sins, that the one can be forgiven. Salvation is to somehow settle the matter, a person's sin case. Jesus was far more radical in this respect than the others. Because others have said that 'man has sins and has good qualities. For example, religiosity is the opposite of sin. It is in religiosity that the case of sin can be settled. When one prays, murmurs the Torah to himself, he is in a state of salvation, unlike when ... and here, they listed their s...

Grace is not a license to sin

Defending the faith  Jude opens his letter by exhorting his readers to “contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). The need for such contending arises not from the world but from within the church—“certain people have crept in” (v. 4). Many of the greatest dangers to the church around the world come not from outside her walls but from inside. As Jesus said, there are wolves in the church that look like sheep (Matt. 7:15). Despite acting subversively rather than openly, false teachers can easily be identified by their godlessness. They are “grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires” (Jude 16). Jude reminds his readers, and us, that the apostles predicted that such false teachers would arise (vv. 17–18). The church must not be swept into falsehood and godlessness but must persevere in the love of God (v. 21), receiving mercy from Jesus and extending mercy to others (vv. 22–23). The nature of grace The false teachers who have infilt...
