About Zech 12:10 By David Guzik – Enduring Word Today, let's talk about looking, weeping, and living . I'm going to read you from Zechariah 12, verse 10, where we read this. And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and supplication. Then they will look on me whom they have pierced. Yes, they will mourn for him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for him as one grieves for a firstborn. Zechariah 12:10 Zechariah 12 is all about a great outpouring of the spirit of God upon his ancient people of Israel. He promises to bless, restore, and strengthen them in the last days. As Zechariah tells us in chapter 12, verse 10, part of this great outpouring of strength and might to defend Jerusalem will be an outpouring of his spirit. But it will be for grace and supplication. For these seven rejoice to see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the Lord, which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth. Zech 4:10 Zechariah's question rings through us today. Almost every one of us might answer: "I have despised the day of small things." After all, God has a wonderful, though perhaps difficult, purpose for those days. These words were first directed to Zerubbabel, who led the city government of Jerusalem and was in charge of the project to rebuild the Temple. The work had stalled for many years, yet the Lord called it only a day of small things for Zerubbabel. It must have seemed like a very long day because the work of the temple was paused for almost 20 years. He probably would say to God, what do you mean a day of small things? I've live...
