The surprising cure for fear

Image
Diagnosis and Way out The fear of man is a snare, but the one who trusts in the Lord is protected. Proverbs 29:25 The Medicine There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out * fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears has not reached perfection in love. We love because He first loved us. 1Jn 4:18-19 *The full love chases out the fear. Method and therapeutic lifestyle I remind you to keep ablaze the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment. 2Tim 1:6-7. When fear comes from our enemies we have a position with Christ (Jesus came that through his death) he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. Heb 2:14-15 I bow my knees before the Father that.. He may grant you to be strengthened with power...

God is enthusiastic about His works

Image
G od is enthusiastic about His works. God is not an absentee engineer running His world by remote control. The Scripture says that He is “upholding all things by the word of his power” (Hebrews 1:3). The presence of the invisible Word in the universe makes things run. God is the perfect creator and He runs everything by being present in His works. That’s all through the prophets, the Psalms and the book of Job –all through the Old Testament. When we hit the age of science, we forgot that. We have “laws” now. The Bible knew nothing about “the laws of nature.” The Bible knew only that God was there. If it rained, it was God watering His hills from His chambers. If there was lightning, it was God, and if there was thunder, it was the “voice of the LORD” that “maketh the hinds to calve” (Psalm 29:9). The Holy Spirit's Presence" – A. W. Tozer

A shoot from the stump of Jesse

Image
meditation There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse 1 , and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him 2 , the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. Isa 11:1-2 ... In that day the root of Jesse 1 , who shall stand as a signal 3 for the peoples—of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious. In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people 4 , from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea. He will raise a signal for the nations Isa 11:10-11 Notes: 1 Paul quoted this verse in Rom 15:12. referring to the Messiah: “The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the Gentiles; in him will the Gentiles hope.” "A ro...

The Mediator

Image
T here is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, Himself human, who gave Himself — a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time. 1Tim 2:5-6 W e have this kind of high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a minister of the sanctuary and the true tabernacle that was set up by the Lord and not man. ... if He were on earth, He wouldn’t be a priest, since there are those offering the gifts prescribed by the Law. ... But Jesus has now obtained a superior ministry, and to that degree He is the mediator of a better covenant, which has been legally enacted on better promises. Heb 8:1-2, 4,6 Y ou have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God (the heavenly Jerusalem), to myriads of angels in festive gathering, to the assembly of the firstborn whose names have been written in heaven, to God who is the Judge of all, to the spirits of righteous pe...

Grace upon Grace

Image
My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father — Jesus Christ the Righteous One. He Himself is the atoning sacrifice {propitiation} for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world. 1Jn 2:1-2 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1Jn 1:9 The Faithful Who Stands in the Gap When we drop our guard and we sin (which the Apostle John knows will happen & we should confess), praise God that our saviour Jesus faithfully stands in the gap,* defends us, and is the one who forever states our innocent plea before God the Father. Indeed, from His fullness we have all received grace after grace (grace *upon grace: in place of grace already given) for the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. John 1:16-17 Through Moses came the Law. The ...

Prayer Basics

Image
Apostolic Instructions on Prayer, and the technical meaning of "Christ". First of all, then, I urge 1 that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone 2 , for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life 3 in all godliness and dignity. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For 5 there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, Himself human, who gave Himself — a ransom for all 6 , a testimony at the proper time. ... I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument... 7 1Tim 2:1-6,8 (Holman C.S.B.) Notes 1 "I emphatically tell you.." The breastpiece (breastplate)

Image
God is Love – 3/3 meditation The High Priest in the Old Testament : You are to make an embroidered breastpiece (breastplate) for making decisions.. ... Place a setting of gemstones on it, four rows of stones: ... The 12 stones are to correspond to the names of Israel’s sons. Each stone must be engraved like a seal, with one of the names of the 12 tribes. Exo 28:15.17.21 Whenever he enters the sanctuary, Aaron is to carry the names of Israel’s sons over his heart on the breastpiece for decisions, as a continual reminder before the Lord. Exo 28:29 ↑ ↓ The High Priest in the New Testament : ..because He, Jesus remains forever, He holds His priesthood permanently. The fullness of God’s nature!

the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ, and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority. Col 2:9-10

Two persons

The * natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are a folly to him, and b he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The c spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. d “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But e we have the mind of Christ. 1Cor 2:14-16 ESV Notes: * psychicos person: It's not simply a "natural" person or "unbeliver" person. When speaking of the inner person, Paul uses the word: psychikos (soulish, 'visible-things-driven', 'emo-driven' or 'fleshly' minds and hearts) for the old character. Meanwhile he uses the word: pneumatikos (spiritual, spirit - driven) for the rescued. This helps us to see what Paul is writing here, in 1Cor 2:14-16 and in 1Cor 15:44. Other correspondent verses: a 1Cor 1:18 b Rom. 8:7 c 1Cor 3:1; 14:37; Gal. 6:1; see: Prov. 28:5 d Cited fro...

To see the sins you must avoid

Image
"Put These Glasses On" Reading the Bible - to see what God sees "The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes." Psalm 19:8 ...by nature we don’t see well. We don’t see ourselves as others see us, let alone as God sees us. Reading the Bible is like putting on a pair of glasses. You begin to see what God sees. You get to know what grieves and offends him. Reading the Bible will open your eyes to the sins that lurk in your life. How does reading the Bible open your eyes to see the sins you must avoid? Look, for example, at 1 Corinthians 13: “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth” (1Cor 13:4-6). These two verses draw attention to at least seven sins that grieve the Spirit of God: (1) Impatience – love is patient (2) Envy ...

Your new life and your fruits in Christ

Image
Rm 6:22-23 now, since you have been liberated from sin and have become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification — and the end is eternal life! For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. ⇓ Rm 7:4 Therefore, my brothers, you also were put to death in relation to the Law through the crucified body of the Messiah, so that you may belong to another — to Him who was raised from the dead — that we may bear fruit for God. After Law The 1Pt 2:9

Invitation

A   nd where there agape exists, there is a loving invitation and calling. We have a calling to the nations, and NOT an increase in numbers in a club. Club members meet for fellowship - but not to save other people's lives. There is a difference between filia and agape .

Intellect VS Spirit

Moses said: “Now if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, please teach me Your ways, and I will know You and find favor in Your sight. Now consider that this nation is Your people.” Then HE replied, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exo 33:13 As a truly dedicated leader, Moses did not simply focus on his duties, but the well-being of his flock was the center of his attention. · What is Moses' reaction to this answer? · Which specific branch of Christianity should be concerned with this view / perspective? · Moses' mindset has been changed by the Lord's answer. How has his perspective broadened? {v.15-18. ↓} “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here. Ps 141 - Prayer incense

Let my prayer be counted as incense before You, and the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice. Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not turn my heart to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with those who work iniquity: do not let me eat of their delicacies Psalm 141:2-4

Incense offering .. according to Jesus' life You shall make an altar on which to offer incense; you shall make it of acacia wood.. Aaron shall offer fragrant incense on it; every morning when he dresses the lamps he shall offer it, and when Aaron sets up the lamps in the evening, he shall offer it, a regular incense offering before the Lord throughout your generations.. Ex 30:1. 7.   ↓ His shoots shall spread out; his beauty shall be like the olive tree, and his fragrance like that of Lebanon. Hos 14:6   ↓ While he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very costly ointment of nard, and she broke open the jar and poured the ointment on his head. But some were there who said to one another in anger, “Why was the ointment wasted in this way? For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor.” And they scolded ...

Make every effort

Image
by todaydevotional.com Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy. Hebrews 12:14 For many years ReFrame's Russian-language ministry has been producing a talk show called The Dificult Questions . In this live radio broadcast we answer listeners' questions about the Bible and Christianity. But sometimes we hear from people who have a complaint rather than an inquiry. One caller recently shared that her family left the church because the congregation had many bitter divisions and fights. The woman said that these conflicts weakened her faith. In our Bible reading for today the author of Hebrews urges readers to "make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy." This is not an optional short-term activity but a necessity that requires our lifelong commitment. People who are at peace with God are responsible to pursue peace in their relationships with others. You see, when we seek peace with others, we somehow m...
