they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching

and the fellowship,

to the breaking of bread

and the prayers.

And awe[fear] came upon every soul,

and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.

And all who believed were together and had all things in common

And they were selling their possessions and belongings
and distributing the proceeds to all,
as any had need.

And day by day, attending the Temple together

and breaking bread in their homes,

they received their food
with glad and generous hearts,
praising God

and having favor with all the people.

And the Lord added to their number day by day those
who were being saved.

Intro It is key that we, Christians live in the New Testament. We all have free access to the throne: free communication and close relationship in the heavenly family. God hardly speaks through one man alone {like in the Old Testament}, for the purpose of leading individuals and communities personally on the subject. They think that Jesus’ teaching about stress and worry is nothing more than fortune-cookie wisdom, nothing more than a first-century version of the Bobby McFerrin song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. But it isn’t. It is much, much more radical than that. It tells us that stress is the chief symptom of our idolatry and self-worship. When we understand what Jesus said about stress and worry, it’s easy to see why it got him killed.
