Bread and fish

When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things. And when it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is now late. Send them away to go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.”
... he answered them, “You give them something to eat.”
... And taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven and said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And he divided the two fish among them all. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.
Mark 6:34-44
..as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly, I say to you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
Mk 14:22-25
The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.
1Cor 10:16-17

Here we can see that when Christ breaks the bread and fish and pours out the wine, then he blesses them, gives the act some fundamental significance.
He didn't just bless the food, and he obviously wasn't just prophesying about his own death. He provides us with food. He gives us a profound closeness and new perspective. We believers have fellowship with Him and with His brokenness too. We have fellowship with His body and blood - in multiple ways. In this way we have fellowship and participation in the multiplication.
It is through his brokennes, his death, that Christ brings the multiplied fruit. And in the lives of so many heroes of faith, we see the same. They must die to their former lives and to the things that are important to them. Their surrender and sacrifice of their lives at certain point brings the sovereign ruling/authority of God and the multiplied fruit that brings salvation to many.
