W hen Jesus was born he got a 3 part gift collection from the wise men who arrived from the mythical far east. The pack contained:  · Gold  · Frankincense  · Myrrh with good reason. First of all, he (his parents: Joseph and Mary) received it for practical reasons, as the family had to flee to Egypt immediately, and that is a huge undertaking even for a relatively well-off family. And they were not among them. The journey was a painful and fearful necessity, and the completely new environment demanded a whole new way of life and genuine faith.* A carpenter obviously found work in Egypt too, but for an entire family, this whole transition was not quite so simple. Women were not part of the breadwinning class, and raising children in safety and peace is not possible without a stable foundation. But obviously, we come to this which, as I say, is the core and the centre of biblical doctrine. Because the truth concerning the Lord Jesus Christ is at one and the same time the centra...

When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things. And when it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is now late. Send them away to go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” ... he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” ... And taking the five loaves and the two fish he looked up to heaven and said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And he divided the two fish among them all. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men. Mark 6:34-44 ..as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and w...
