In Jesus' name 1

 In Jesus' name

(from the testimonies of Emil Nigg's life)

...

"What did the doctors say about these amazing twists?"

"I remember a woman who came to me in great pain." She had a big tumor in her breast and was waiting for help from Jesus, the Great Doctor. I prayed and placed my hands on Jesus’Name. The Lord's response was not missed. The pain was gone, the tumor was back. She waited until only a small lump appeared to testify to his doctor of the healing power of Jesus.

As soon as she showed herself to the doctor, he could barely understand what had happened, that only a small lump was visible, and that his patient was in no pain. The woman told him that it was all done through prayer. The doctor's face shone and he acknowledged, that it was his great joy, that he had experienced such a thing that "a woman had found a cure through her prayer."

- Doctor, was it cancer? she asked.

"Yes, it was, at an advanced stage."

The healed woman wrote the above in a letter full of gratitude and thanksgiving.

What a mighty God we have!

"Colonel, basically, you weren't anti-doctor, were you?"

- Not that I could have! I also went to have my eyes checked at the ophthalmologist from time to time - I had bilateral cataracts. This, however, did not prevent me from continually saying praise and thanks on the basis of the promise (Isa. 53,5 Luke 4: 18-21, etc.).

"Nevertheless, I have been healed by your wounds, Lord Jesus!" - I confessed - If the light of my eyes will decrease outwardly, * yet I thank you for your healing, even if I have to thank you until my death.

* (Colonel Nigg was able to read his Bible even on his last day.)

The Lord often allowed doctors to have the opportunity to experience the power of Jesus’ name on one of their patients. Related to this is the following experience:

He was invited to an academic couple. The woman had a tumor that gave rise to dark fears. It had to be operated on. He asked for the prayer of faith.

As we prayed together — I had not yet laid my hands on her — she suddenly said amicably.

"The Lord has given me inner assurance that I am healed! You don't have to pray over me anymore."

OK! I was happy with that promise. The woman was a believer, so I took her statement seriously.

Then came the unexpected thing.

After I left, the lady went into prayer before the Lord and received the following inner instruction:

"Go, show yourselves to the priests."

He was immediately aware of what that meant. In the time of Jesus, priests were also doctors who made the diagnosis. (Luke 17:14) So he obediently went to his professor, who should have had surgery. However, it remained that it should be opened. So after he agreed, he was operated on. The result: all worries are gone - completely harmless. Our patient had to tell and testify of the power of Jesus.

Being an intellectual, the professor listened intently, not even once.

I would also mention the recovery of the young girl who consulted with 26 doctors but none could help her, only the Great Doctor, Jesus! It is very good when doctors also have the opportunity to see for themselves the wonderful power of Jesus!

- Did doctors ask for prayer for help?

- Yes. One day he was called to a doctor who was actively involved in the Salvation Army. I found the friend very broke. The various tests showed a clear result: There is a cavern (hole) in the lungs. There was nothing left but a lung sanatorium in Davos. I was scared of this news myself. Then we knelt down to uncover the trouble in front of the greatest doctor of body and soul.

Suddenly the doctor grabbed the chair at which he was kneeling and pushed it all the way to mine, with the request:

"Would you put your hands on me in the Name of Jesus?"

How pleased I was with the doctor's skill! Then I acted in faith and trust, knowing that He would keep His promise, “and they shall be healed” (Mark 16:18)

After prayer, we went down to the lower room where the doctor’s wife was waiting for us.

"Doctor, I gave your husband the best I have." I put the Name of Jesus on it!

To my surprise, he replied:

- I knew it.

A few days later, I received word that Dr. K. had left for Davos, where he was re-examined. The result: healed! Only a small scar is still visible! He could travel home.

Despite this, his doctor advised him to stay on a high-altitude holiday for at least another three weeks, which he then followed.

Our hearts were full of praise and gratitude to God. “And it got better and better! Hallelujah! ”

It occurred to me that it is difficult for intelligent people to believe in the promise quite simply and in a childish way. One day the believer Dr.Ing addressed :

- Can I ask you something?

- Yes, please.

- Do you anoint with oil in the name of the Lord, as it is written in James 5:14?

I answered yes. Then he asked if he could come to me once. We agreed on a date. He came, told me he had stomach ailments that hurt a lot. I then recounted the Lord’s interventions in similar cases.

Therefore he asked me for the laying on of hands in Jesus' name.

Once that was done, he stood up to go home. In the hallway, he said his pain was not gone. I asked:

"What did I read from God's Word earlier?" (Mark 16,18)

He was reluctant. I repeated the question:

- What did I read to you earlier? What will happen?

Finally the answer came:

- "… and they will be healed!"

- Exactly. Do you believe this?

I felt how hard it was for this intellectual man to simply believe in the word of promise. But he obediently replied:

- It's written that I'll be better.

After those words, I let him go. The next day he and his wife set up for me:

"Here comes one of the ten healed to say thank you." (Luke 17.15.)

The pains and problems disappeared. Praise and thanks be to the Lord!

"Colonel, are we allowed to live up to these promises?" Isn't this blackmail?

- For me, the Word of God is the Word of God. I am not concerned with myself, my faith, or my unbelief, nor the needs, doubts, difficulties of others, only one thing is important: To stand, very seriously and with firm confidence in the promises of God, as it is written.

How many times have I put my hands on a promise. Eg Isa.53.5, or Luke 4,18-21, or Mark 16:18 with these words:

- My Savior! It is written here! Thank you for the healing of your wounds. This also applies to X, I am not leaving you, thank you, thank you, simply thank you!

One night before I fell asleep, I even opened the Bible at Isa.53.5. I prayed and thanked for this promise with regard to one patient:

"My Savior, this also applies to this poor woman."

I fell asleep with that. When I woke up, the sheet was stuck to my hand with Isa.53.5 and it was hard to remove from there. Oh, how many sufferers would wish for healing if they had not given room for doubt so quickly. For example: "They prayed with me, I'm not healed yet, it seems it's God's will." "And they don't experience anything because of their unbelief."

On the other hand, I often experience that the sufferers, who were ill even after the laying on of hands, gave thanks and praise for healing and the fulfillment of the promise — and were miraculously healed.

For some, it took weeks to fully recover. I am thinking here of a young mother who suffered from such a high degree of insomnia that she was nervously ruined. Despite the pills, he could not fall asleep and there was a family for whom he had to stand up.

He came to me with a request to place my hands on him in the name of Jesus. After a while, he wrote that for 12 days, without pills, he was vigilant only for trust in faith. He wanted to rely solely on Jesus and his help and power. Suddenly a miracle happened. He slept for eight hours and slept well every night beyond that. Her heart was full of gratitude and joy.

This was just one of many similar cases. The Lord often raises His children through trials to deeper faith, humility, praise, and thanksgiving.

- Have you experienced similar ones yourself?

- Yes, often. The enemy is often attacked physically, with pain, once e.g. my whole body burned. Praise and thanks for the Blood of Jesus, the victory of His Holy Blood, these were my strongest “medicines”. Without this secret, I would not have gotten over my pain. I must also point out that it is not enough to say praise and thanks only quickly, in a few minutes. Sometimes I praised and thanked and glorified the power of the Blood of Jesus for two or three hours a night until the pains and anxieties were gone. This is also valid in the face of other temptations.

- The enemy hates all glorification and thanksgiving. Yes, because they are really driving him away.

The Ps. 50,23. reality:

“The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me;
to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!”

It was one of my dearest psalms and I often experienced its truth. Oh, if Christians used this more than once, the fate of many would be different.

I admit that praise and thanksgiving have become a part of my existence. Yes, I was just constantly glorifying and giving thanks in me - Both day and night.
