Appreciate the Good and the Merit

Image
brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, dwell in these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me – practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Phil 4:8

Two women

Image
Joseph Marie Vien: Sarah Presenting Hagar to Abraham Based on the Galatians 4 you can read here an overview +teaching about the old and new status of the believers. According to the apostolic teaching the old, child like status describes Israel and the new status refers to the adoption we have got in Christ. Meanwhile, the symbolic image of the two women, the two mothers (Abraham's concubine and his wife), gives a detailed picture of the complex spiritual family relationship between the Jewish and the Christian believer. We will use the ESV Bible. Pre When the apostle Paul speaks of the life of Abraham and about the Law, we need to see two states. One is a blessing: based on the voluntary mercy and grace of God, the other is a system: which God has prepared for the deliverance of His people and the building up of the Jewish nation. We can see that the promise, Abraham's blessing came 430 years before the giving of the Law. Moreover we will see that...

Our own way

We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; Is 53:6 ..a woman named Martha welcomed Him (Jesus) into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.” The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Wedding at Cana

Image
respecting the rank Human perspective VS Kingdom perspective ..a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there 1 , and Jesus and His disciples were invited 2 to the wedding as well. When the wine ran out 3 , Jesus’ mother told Him, 4 “They don’t have any wine.” “What has this concern of yours to do with Me, 5 woman?” Jesus asked. “My hour has not yet come.” “Do whatever He tells 6 you,” His mother told the servants... “Fill the jars with water 7 ,” Jesus told them. So they filled them 8 to the brim. Then He said to them, “Now draw some out and take it 9 to the chief servant.” And they did. 8 (the water had become wine, Jesus took away the shame) 10 ... Let us reason together

Image
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Is 1:18 the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant*, full of mercy and good fruits. Jms 3:17 *"easy to be intreated", "open to reason" the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed; Act 17:10-12

"learned, received, heard, seen"

Image
For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I urge you, then, be imitators of me. 1Cor 4:15 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Phil 4:9 Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctifiction.. 1Thess 4:1 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the...

How To Truly Nurture Our Conscience, Not Outsource It

Image
It was an uncompromising conscience that compelled Luther to stand alone in courageous faith before the mightiest people of the day. This was where he stood 500 years ago on 18 April 1521. He was not driven by personal hubris but constrained by something higher. His conscience, he declared, was captive to the Word of God. And it is “neither safe nor advisable to do anything against conscience”. It would have been easy to outsource his conscience blindly to the teaching authorities in the Church, even when he understood them to contradict Scripture. In our generation there are many influencers in society and media seeking to shape a collective conscience. Suddenly people trip over themselves to signal their newly-discovered virtues. Brands now have a conscience that they must advertise. It is easy to allow our conscience to be formed... What do we mean by outsourcing conscience? After all we yield our consciences to God and His Word. Outsourcing in general is when w...

Two persons

The * natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are a folly to him, and b he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The c spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. d “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But e we have the mind of Christ. 1Cor 2:14-16 ESV Notes: * psychicos person: It's not simply a "natural" person or "unbeliver" person. When speaking of the inner person, Paul uses the word: psychikos (soulish, 'visible-things-driven', 'emo-driven' or 'fleshly' minds and hearts) for the old character. Meanwhile he uses the word: pneumatikos (spiritual, spirit - driven) for the rescued. This helps us to see what Paul is writing here, in 1Cor 2:14-16 and in 1Cor 15:44. Vér és Tűz

Image
(Ézs.53:5) A Szent Szellem nélkül nincs erő, sem felhatalmazás. (ApCsel.1:8)

Blood and Fire

Image
There was a time in my life when I rejected, both externally and internally, everything as "useless", such as spiritual gifts, etc. Such (testimony) writings will only impart profound blessings to us if we read them in a spirit of repentance and confess our own sloth and poverty. Then we cannot put them down without asking and pleading with all our hearts, Lord, fill me also with the Holy Spirit and fire! Yes, then it will be great and important, even holy, what is written on the banner of the Salvation Army: 'Blood and Fire'. We need the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit if we do not want our lives to be poor, to be empty and fruitless. Without the blood of Jesus, there is no forgiveness, no healing (Isa.53:5) Without the Holy Spirit, there is no power, no empowerment (Acts.1:7-8) Emil Nigg

The natural and supernatural world

Image
The situation (nowadays) can be best illustrated by the biblical image of the nations' behaviour, which, as a result of many wars, becomes like a raging sea that vomits up much disgusting rubbish and mud. Under such circumstances, the many evils and wickednesses hidden in the depths of man's soul become more and more apparent. We have witnessed many such manifestations in recent years. It is very important that Christians have a real and personal communion with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Father. In the storms of this age and life, there is always a strong danger of drifting away. Faced with headwinds, one's direction in life often deviates from one's intended purpose and drifts in a direction not of one's own choosing. This threat can only be averted by a strong communion with the Lord, by knowing the enemy's intentions, and by fighting the noble battle of faith. So we can continue on the straight path. The sharp division between the...

A természetes és a természetfeletti világról

Image
A természetes...

Distinguishing between morally good and bad

Image
Suneidesis Biblical Study and Examples about consciousness & conscience pre Our next topic is one of the thinnest quality /element of the Protestant personality. Many people try to bypass the area of repentance. Primarily because in their mindset it associated with the Catholicism Protestantism "threw the baby out with the bathwater" - in some cases. Important elements such as continual priestly ministry, apostolic work - methods and the necessary confession of sins and a good conscience must be restored. So let us look at the topic of conscience. Usage Suneidesis {soon-i'-day-sis} Strong 4893 1) from a prolonged form of G4894: co-perception, i.e. moral consciousness: —conscience. 2) the consciousness of anything 3) the soul as distinguishing between what is morally good and bad, prompting to do the former and shun the latter, commending one, condemning the other For the better understanding we must look up the cogn...

Imitators of God

Image
By David Guzik on Dec 31, 2023 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. (Ephesians 5:1-2) The thought in these lines from Ephesians 5:1-2 continue the thought from the end of Ephesians 4, where he described how Christians should relate to one another. The believer has an example for how they should treat other believers: God Himself. Christians are to be imitators of God. The idea is simple – that believers are to make God their example and model. It does not say here, “Think about God” or “Admire God” or “Adore God,” though those are all important Christian duties. This is a call to practical action, going beyond our inner life with God. We could say this is a continuation of the same idea Paul mentioned in Ephesians 4:13 regarding the extent of Christian growth: to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness...
