10 Things You Should Know about the Presence of God

Image
This study provides a useful overview of the presence of Gd, doing so independently of today’s rather biased movements. {The next 2 paragraphs are fragments}   2. The Bible emphasizes God’s manifest presence, not only his omnipresence There is a difference between saying “God is everywhere,” and saying “God is here.” The former is the default category for most Christians. We talk about God’s presence being inescapable and that he is “everywhere present” (Ps 139:5-12; 1 Kings 8:27). But it seems Scripture is more concerned with his presence manifest in relationship and redemption . And though these divine realities are certainly not at odds, the biblical story does turn on God’s being manifest with his people in Eden, the tabernacle/temple, the incarnation of Christ, and the new heaven and new earth. 3. The story of Scripture begins and ends with the presence of God In the book of Genesis, Eden is the first couple’s home but, more importantly, it is God’s sanctuary—the garden temple...

Two important diabolic guises

Image
The devil is a deceiver (Rev. 12:9). The apostle, Paul warns the Corinthians that the devil can disguise himself as “an angel of light” (2 Cor. 11:14). Paul is writing about the danger of false teachers who disguise themselves as “apostles of Christ” (2 Cor. 11:13). These “deceitful workmen” are agents of the great deceiver. False teaching, false gospel, and false teachers still persist and trouble the churches. This may be particularly so in the West. ... there is another guise that is not subtle at all. It shows itself in persecution. Peter uses a startling metaphor in application to the devil (1 Pet. 5): “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” Peter has persecution for the faith in mind as the next verse shows (1 Pet. 5:9): “Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.”  There are many Christian brot...

Be More God-conscious

Image
We’re fighting our battles by God’s strategies. “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds” (2 Cor. 10:4 NIV). Apostle Paul wrote, “Strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf” (Rom. 15:30).  We have become too enemy-conscious. We need to be more God-conscious, so that we can laugh the laugh of faith, knowing that we have power over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). He has already lost control because of Calvary, where the Lamb was slain. Jesus said, “ If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! ” (Luke 11:13).  “How much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit . . .” We don’t have to deserve the Holy Spirit, but we do have to ask: “. . . to those who ask him!”  God is calling us into lifestyle prayer so that we experience lifelong power. mindenki "alávetett"

Image
Teljes cikk angolul→  {Gospel Coalition}  Kép: (c) iBelieve.com

Everybody Submits to Somebody

Image
The Bible is clear that everybody submits to somebody. Men and women are called to submit to the government (Rom. 13:1), children are called to submit to parents (Eph. 6:1), church members are called to submit to elders (Heb. 13:7), servants are called to submit to masters (1 Pet. 1:18), and on it goes. Of course, the ultimate demonstration that submission is a good and biblical virtue is that it was practiced by our Lord himself. Christ, in his earthly ministry, submitted himself to the Father (John 4:34; 5:3). His submission was so complete that he was “obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” (Phil. 2:8) Full article →  (c) iBelieve.com
